Joyce Mitchell Brown

CA - Joyce Mitchell Brown passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007, in Shingle Springs, CA after a six-year battle with cancer. She was born to Sarah Ellen (Sally) Stanger and Thomas James Mitchell on September 13, 1940, in Ogden, UT.

She was raised in Clinton, UT and educated in Davis County, graduating from Davis High School in 1958.

On December 16, 1960, she married Paul William Brown in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

She graduated from American River College with a degree in interior design and operated her own design business in the Sacramento area for 25 years. She volunteered at Mercy San Juan Hospital and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. However, her most important job was being a mother to her three children. She was very involved in all their activities and volunteered many hours of service to the PTA.

All of her life she was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served many years in the youth and women's organizations and loved those she served.

Surviving are her husband Paul of Shingle Springs, CA, her son Brent (Andrea) of Gilbert, AZ, her daughters Becky Vervloet (Thomas) of Clinton, UT and Bridget Wilson (Todd) of Carmichael, CA. She loved her eight grandchildren Maddison, Burk, Kate, Davis, Chelsea, Samuel, Cooper, and Peter. Three brothers, Kenneth, Fredrick, and Merlin also survive her. Her sister, Georgia Ann, preceded her in death.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 7 at 11 a.m. at the Clinton Stake Center 1288 West 1300 North, Clinton, UT. Visitation will be 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the Stake Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Snowline Hospice 6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619.
