Joyce Knight East Obituary (1924 - 2008)

Joyce Knight East PLAIN CITY - Joyce Knight East, 83, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at her home. She was born November 26, 1924 in Ogden to Horace and Mary Knight. Joyce attended Weber County Schools graduating from Weber High. She worked on the family farm and one highlight was to ride with her dad in the truck delivering Plain City produce. Joyce married Vernon Wade East, partner for life, on February 17, 1943. Joyce was a member of Plain City 4th Ward. She served in the Sunday School, Primary, and Young Women's. Joyce's pride and joy was her family and her home. She loved to sew and cook. She worked at Plain City Cannery, American Linen, Sperry Rand, and retired from Defense Depot Ogden. Joyce is survived by her husband, Vernon, and sons, Jeffrey (Marveda), and Jimmy (Kathie); sister, Shirley (Dan) Favero; brothers, Thayne (Cherrill) Knight, Blake (Merle) Knight; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. (We love you grandma. As promised, you finally "jumped the fence.") She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Wanda Thompson; brothers, Loyd and Keith. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 6, 2008 at 11:00 at the Plain City Cemetery, 4225 W. 1975 N. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
