Judy Valdez
Dec 9, 1940 - Dec 11, 2025
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in her home at Legacy House in Ogden on Dec 11, 2025. She was surrounded by the love of two of her children when she returned to heaven to spend Christmas with her husband and many loved ones. Earlier that day, other children, grandchildren, and family members had come to her bedside to share loving last words and tender moments with this special lady. All would agree that her special smile and lighthearted spirit filled our hearts with love until the very end.
Judy was born Dec 9, 1940 in Ogden, Utah to Reuben Lee Allphin Price and Marvel Pearl Martin Price. On October 26, 1957 she married the love of her life, Willie E. Valdez. Legend has it she fell in love with his guitar skills and fancy cars from the moment they met. Together they built a beautiful life raising their 5 children, and eventually welcoming a tribe of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In the early years, Judy and Willie raised their children in a tiny home on Polk Avenue. And although the house was small, the space inside had plenty of room for love, laughter, and food. Everyone was always welcome because family was the center of Judy’s world. A constant caretaker, she was always cooking, cleaning, and making sure that her husband and children were nurtured and fed. And although she worked for the Defense Depot of Ogden as a personnel clerk for years, her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She took great care in preserving these relationships by attending special events, giving thoughtful gifts, and creating memory books for each of her grandchildren.
As the family grew, Judy and Willie eventually moved into bigger homes. But there was one special spot, known as “the place”, that was the home away from home. To get to “the place” one simply took a winding drive up Ogden Canyon into the magical pine covered mountains. About 30 minutes into the drive, a slight left turn into a dirt road entrance opened into a patch of dirt that some would call paradise. It was a spot nestled among the mountains next to a flowing stream, adorned with trees and brush. Often, Judy’s family would park their trailers for the season, making it the hallmark of a family gathering spot. While there, summer days were filled with barbecues and food as the family would pull chairs into a circle to talk, laugh about stories, or just sit in silence and marvel at the beauty. Summer nights were filled with star lit skies and sharing memories around the fire pit that sat next to the river.
When Willie left to be with his loved ones in heaven, Judy remained a social butterfly. She loved attending birthday parties, holiday parties, taking trips to Wendover and New Mexico, crocheting, and camping. She loved tradition and looked forward to the July 4th parade in Plain City with family every year. As she moved into the Legacy house, she continued to stay busy by attending their daily activities such as bingo. Throughout all her adventures, she remained a devout Catholic member and enjoyed seeing her loved ones at church and connecting with her angels and God.
Judy was one of a kind and will be deeply missed. She was the loving matriarch of the Valdez family and leaves a legacy of love and care in her wake. Life will not be the same without her.
Judy is survived by her children, Cindy (Charles) Archuleta; Tammy (Bob) Matue; Lori (Nick) Cota, Tod Valdez; Troy Valdez; 13 grand-children; 14 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great- grandchildren. She is also survived by two siblings, Jerry and Jay Price. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and 3 brothers: Harold M Fife; Lee Price and James Price and 3 Sisters; Arlene Price; Jean Price; and Joyce Price; and one great- great grandson: Slate Rudd Scoffield.
