Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Karen Carver Thompson, age 71, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2006 at the McKay-Dee Hospital.
She was born March 21, 1935 in Ogden, the daughter of Leland and Theone Hobson Carver. As a young girl, she lived in Tahiti while her father built an L.D.S. Tabernacle. While there, she developed a great love for the Polynesian culture. She had a huge appreciation of nature and its beauty.
On September 9, 1955 she married the love of her life, Clarence Val Thompson in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. They enjoyed 50 wonderful years together.
She was a secretary for the Weber County School District and retired from Bates Elementary. She was a member of the North Ogden 7th Ward.
Karen had a determined spirit and a will to never give up. She was a very hard worker and always gave of herself. Her love and kindness was given freely to everyone she knew. Her favorite place to be was Bear Lake with her family and friends. She had a deep love for her grandchildren and had a very special relationship with each one.
She is survived by her husband and two children, Troy Val (Julie) Thompson of Pleasant View and Staci (Tim) Kendell of Uintah. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kiersten and Bronson Nye, Karlee Thompson, Caden, McKenzi, Sydnee and Nellie Mae Kendell; one brother and one sister, Wid (Camille) Carver of Plain City; Jan Christiansen of Washington Terrace.
