Kathy Pauline Davis Olson Obituary (1949 - 2018)

"Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories" Kathy was born in Hot Springs South Dakota to William V. and Agnes V. Davis and joined her brother Harry Lee McLeod (Ha) and sister Karen Sue Guertin, she was followed by her 4 brothers Kent Davis (Jean), Keith Davis (Cindy), Kreg Davis (Jan), and Kirk Davis. She lived in Willard for all but the first few years of her life and married a young man she met in grade school, John A. Olson, on March 2, 1968. Through all the ups and downs they were married 50 years last March but together in their hearts longer than that. Nobody thought they would make it, but they did and were planning on many more years together of traveling and spending time with their family. They only had one child, a daughter, Mindi Linn VanderSteen (Rodney), but she had three grandchildren that she loved to the moon and back, Shelby VanderSteen (Celeste), Colby VanderSteen, and Ashley Gammon (Scott), and three great grandchildren that were a joy to her heart, Weston, Wylee JO, and Marceline. These are the facts of her life however in the dash in-between there is a whole book of stories we could write about her. She worked for and retired from the Federal Government, working at IRS, DDO, and then IRS again. In her younger years she worked at Vicky's Cafe and the Sewing Factory. She was a hard worker and a fighter, she had just been declared cancer free after a year and half fight. She was the biggest supporter of her grandkids, going to all the dance recitals, plays and games. She loved to talk, anyone that she caught in a store would be sure to be there for a while chatting. She loved the little things in life, watching the birds and whirly-gigs outside her window, watching her great grands play in the yard (and in the dirt), she loved the arts whether it was going to a local play or a concert, an art gallery or the ballet she loved them all and was a talented artist herself. She found joy in the simple things, collected frogs and anything vintage for her house and her yard. We will always cherish watching fireworks with her, she would ooh and aah like a little kid while she watched them. She loved lighthouses and the Oregon Coast, and she collected all things lighthouses...calendars, blankets, statues. She loved the outdoors, going to Grays River to collect firewood and camp with the kids, it was hard work, but she loved the peacefulness and beauty of the mountains. She loved going to Moab every year for her birthday and was such a trooper riding with people, as long as she had her pillow and her snacks she was up for any trail. She had such concern for all of her family, wanting to know they were okay, worried over their struggles, helped everyone out with anything they needed at any time of the day (as long as it wasn't too early). She was a fighter even at the very end, and we will truly miss her every day of our lives, it has been amazing to hear from everyone that she touched in her life, thank you for all of your support during this difficult time. She is survived by her husband, daughter, her grands and great grands and all of her brothers and sister. Preceded in death by both of her parents. The family would like to thank the Willard City and Brigham City Fire departments, the Willard City Police Department, especially Chief Jean Loveland for her friendship and support to the family, and all those that assisted that we don't know. She was cremated according to her wishes and we will have a private memorial service in her honor in the Spring, when the flowers are blooming, one of her favorite times of the year.
