Kathy Dennis Rigby passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on February 4, 1955, in Richfield, Utah, Kathy lived a life filled with compassion, creativity, and devotion to her family.
In her younger years, Kathy served as President of the Eagles Club, where her leadership and warmth shone through. It was there that she met the love of her life, Lynn Rigby. Their romance blossomed quickly; on weekends, Lynn would walk her home, and during the week, Kathy penned heartfelt love letters to him while he worked on the ranch in Chesterfield, Idaho.
They married in Salt Lake City and began their life together in Bancroft, Idaho, where they welcomed their first daughter, Kendalyn. Later, they moved to Kaysville, Utah, to welcome their second daughter, Carlee. Eventually, they settled in Layton, Utah, where they lived for the past 27 years.
Kathy spent several years working at Ben Franklin Crafts, thriving as the manager of the scrapbooking department. Her unmatched creativity was evident in her work as a scrapbook extraordinaire and crafter. Her delicate hand-painted Mr. and Mrs. Santa on eggshells remain cherished family heirlooms.
Kathy also had a competitive spirit that emerged during games, puzzles, and card matches—even if she often claimed otherwise! Camping was another favorite pastime, bringing her joy, peace, and valuable time with family.
Kathy and Lynn enjoyed 35 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted and nurturing mother to Kendalyn (Michael) and Carlee (Kyle); as well as a loving stepmother to Misty (Harley) and Kerri (Brandon), whom she embraced as her own.
Her greatest joy came from being “Gramma” to Adilynn and Kylee, who brought light into her world. She spent the last two years loving and caring for them daily, filling their days with laughter, snuggles, stories, and silly songs that echoed throughout their home. She also adored her grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler, Lyndie, Trista, Courtney, and Cody.
Kathy had a soft spot for her beloved dog, Buster; whose ashes will remain with her. She cherished music—especially country—and was a lifelong fan of Trace Adkins.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Lynn Rigby; her children, Kendalyn (Michael), Carlee (Kyle), Misty (Harley), and Kerri (Brandon); her grandchildren, Adilynn, Kylee, Jessica, Tyler, Lyndie, Trista, Courtney, and Cody; her sisters, Glenna, Linda, Carolyn (Earl), and Kalynn; her mother-in-law, Loretta Rigby; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ida Nay Dennis; her brothers, Eldon and Rodger; her stepdaughter, Kelli (Dustin); her sisters-in-law, Jackie and Jerrie; and her brother-in-law, Jim Simmons.
Kathy's uniqueness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for people made her unforgettable. She accepted others as they were—flaws and all—and brought light to every room she entered. Her legacy is one of love, creativity, and deep devotion to family.
We will remember her always and love her forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made via the Venmo account established in Kathy’s memory. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated.
