Katie Marie Thompson Zundel Obituary (1911 - 2006)

Katie Marie Thompson Zundel SOUTH OGDEN - Our mom, Katie T. Zundel was reunited with her eternal companion "Jack" on Sunday, September 17th. She passed away at the McKay Dee Hospital after a very brief illness. She was born March 5, 1911 in Clarkston, Utah the daughter of Isaiah T. Thompson and Caroline Letitia Godfrey. She was married to John J. Zundel on September 21, 1934 in the Logan LDS Temple. He passed away on January 21, 1996. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many of the auxiliary organizations. She served many years alongside her husband in the Ogden Temple as he served in the first two temple presidencies. She was immaculate in her personal care and loved things neat, clean, and orderly. She was a devoted mother and grandmother; preparing delicious meals and special treats. In her 95th year she was still keen and alert and cared for herself and her surroundings. She is survived by her children, J. LaRon (Kathy) Zundel, No. Ogden; Karen (C. Robert) Sanders, So. Ogden; Rodney (Sandy) Zundel, No. Ogden; David (Susan) Zundel, Rochester, NY; and Tonya (David) Browning, Enoch, Utah. She is adored by 20 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren. Also, a sister Maxine (Warner) Bruestle and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two great-grandsons Parker L. Zundel and Andrew H. Sanders; brothers Kenneth, Joseph, and Glen; sisters Ida, Sylvia, Maggie, Bessie, Mary and Blanche.
