Kaye Madlynne (Protzman) Pryor Obituary (1941

Kaye Madlynne Protzman Pryor aged 83 passed away peacefully at her home on October 3rd 2024 surrounded by her family. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend whom will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Kaye was born on February 2nd 1941 in Ogden, Utah the youngest daughter of Paul Protzman and Maxine Nelson. She lived in North Ogden where she spent her formative years. Kaye moved to Vernal, Utah where she helped raise six children. She later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and then to Layton Utah to live out her retirement years. Kaye graduated from Utah State University with both a bachelor's and master's degree in education while working in the school lunch program to help offset the cost of her education. She excelled as an elementary school teacher where she was recognized with numerous awards and honors as a distinguished educator. She was beloved by her students and she made a significant difference in both their educational progress and personal growth. Her love for the importance of education manifested itself to her own children where they have subsequently earned three doctoral degrees, an MBA, and trained as successful trade and craftsmen. Several grandchildren have also earned bachelor, nursing, and chiropractic degrees. Throughout her life she was known for her hard work, dedication, and passion for her family. She was a devoted mother, wife, sister, adoring grandmother and great grandmother. Kaye loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She never gave up on people no matter their struggles or personal difficulties and loved them unconditionally. Kaye was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in various church positions throughout her life. She loved working in the temple with her husband Larry and they were later called as service missionaries. Kaye married Merlin Richens on April 11th, 1958. They were later divorced. She married Larry Pryor on December 23rd, 1984. They were afterward sealed in the Las Vegas LDS Temple on August 23rd, 1993. Kaye was preceded in death by her father, Paul; her mother, Maxine; her brother, Marvin; and her sister's, Trudy and Faye. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry; and her children, Greg Richens, Jeff Richens, Ken (Darlene) Richens, Brad Richens, David (Cindy) Richens, Suzy (Barry) Heugly; her step daughter's, Michelle Osmer (Eric), Tracy Larson (Ron), Wendy Zarndt; and her little brother, Grant (Linda) Protzman. She left a wonderful legacy of 37 grand children and 40 great grand grandchildren. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, October 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the LDS Ward Chapel on 1954 East Antelope Drive, Layton Utah. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 12th at noon at the same location. Interment will be at Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden, Utah.
