KENNETH R. PERCY

ROY - Kenneth Robert Percy passed peacefully to the arms of Our Father on October 20, 2003, after battling failing health and Alzheimer's the past two years.

Born to Lucretia Henderson Percy and George F. Percy on June 8, 1922 in Imperial, Nebraska, Ken attended school there and later graduated from Hastings Business College at Hastings, Nebraska.

Ken served as a pilot and pilot instructor in WWII and the Korean War. He continued in the Air Force Reserves, retiring as a Major. Then, entering the Federal Civil Service, Ken worked across the U.S. and the world for 36 years before retiring in 1978.

Grace Hanson and Kenneth, both of the Lutheran faith, were married December 11, 1943. To this union were born Mary Sue McKay, Carol Jean Percy and Jan Garoutte, and his grandchildren were Lindsy and Amy Garoutte and Kenneth McKay.

Ken will be remembered for his quick smile and wit and for his love of flowers, golf, rock and bottle hunting and collecting, antiques of all kinds. He was known for his horse-shoeing, where he participated in many world horseshoe tournaments, as well as many other hobbies and interests. He had a great gratitude for and love of life, but his greatest love of all was for his family. He will be sorely missed.

The family thanks the wonderful staff at Hospice of Utah and at Peachtree Assisted Living for their loving care and comfort.

Memorial services will be private for family only.
