Kermit Orville Twedt Obituary (1929 - 2016)

Kermit Orville Twedt December 6, 1929 - March 7, 2016 Kermit Orville Twedt, loving father, grandfather, neighbor and friend, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born December 6, 1929, in Kindred, North Dakota, a son of Esten and Inger Grant Twedt. He graduated from Kindred High School and achieved his Associates Degree. He is a member of the Lutheran Faith. On January 23, 1973 he married Katsumi Iha in Okinawa, Japan. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2006. Kermit faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a Chief Master Sergeant. He retired after 20 years of military service and then spent the next 20 years working for the U.S. government. He traveled the world in the military and with his civil service responsibilities. He enjoyed basketball, 4 wheeling, camping; and he loved his grandsons, his dogs, and baking. Kermit is survived by his daughter Katrina Kathleen Luna, and his son Wayne (Kristina) Twedt, 4 grandsons, Jose, Alex, Cooper and Porter; sister, Elizabeth (Donald) Shaw, and brother, Julian (Shirley) Twedt. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and 2 brothers, Vernon Twedt and George Twedt. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah, where Military Honors will be accorded. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 11, 2016, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m., prior to services. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-mortuary.com.
