It is with heavy hearts and immeasurable love that we celebrate the life of Kevin Geary Patterson, born on April 10, 1950, in Salt Lake City, UT, USA. Kevin, a loving and compassionate soul, was a beacon of light to everyone who had the privilege to know him. His life was a testament to his inspiring generosity, as he continually put others before himself and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Kevin’s life was marked by a deep and unwavering devotion to his family, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and his trusty fly rod.
Kevin was a retired sales professional, having diligently worked at Model Linen, Myers Mortuaries and AIS until his retirement in 2020. He was renowned for his love of fly fishing and had an exceptional talent for coaching soccer. His life was filled with the joyful sounds of his kids and grandkids playing soccer and the peaceful tranquility of serving in the temple. Kevin’s love for his family was evident in his unwavering support, whether it was attending their events or simply spending quality time with them at their beloved cabin in Island Park, Idaho. His humor was as infectious as his love for Mountain Dew and Baby Ruths. Kevin’s spirit touched many lives through his service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which included serving in the Southwest British Mission, serving in the Bishopric, High Council, Young Men’s Organization, Boy Scouts of America, and being a church ball referee extraordinaire.
Kevin is survived by his spouse Caryol Patterson, his children Jason (Holly) Patterson, Hollie Wilder, Jared (Mandi) Patterson, Jacob (Amanda) Patterson, Jordan (Kiera) Patterson, Jess (Candis) Patterson, his sisters Nancy (Tim - deceased) Neal and Ann (Harold - deceased) Young and his 27 grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents M. Larkin and Arlene Geary Patterson, his brother Micheal Patterson, his son Jaydn Patterson, and his brothers-in-law Harold (Ann) Young and Tim (Nancy) Neal.
With “One Last Cast”, Kevin leaves a “Marvelous” legacy that will not be forgotten. Immortal teachings of an FC Pride Legend and a DIY Quarter Round Master…”Don’t need to cut it straight or have the right measurements, quarter-round will cover it”. Dad had a gift for loving people and living in a world where there were no strangers. No matter how hard life had gotten, to Dad it was always MARVELOUS. We love you, Dad and thank you for all of your teachings, support, love and the many laughs we shared.
The words of Moroni 7:47, which read, "But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him." perfectly encapsulate Kevin’s life of love and service. His legacy will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.
