Kirk Mcallister Larsen Obituary (1921 - 2003)

Kirk Larsen NORTH OGDEN - Kirk McAllister Larsen, 81, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at his home. He was born August 12, 1921 in Manti, Utah to William Wallace Larsen and Stephney McAllister Larsen. He married Melba Barker on February 19, 1947 in the Manti Temple. She preceded him in death on September 7, 2000. She was the center and love of his life. He was a member of the North Ogden LDS 5th Ward. He was active in the bishopric of the No. Ogden 2nd Ward, and a member of the high council of the Ben Lomond Stake. He enjoyed and served faithfully in his calling as Home Teacher. He and his wife together served missions to Perth Australia and Inner City Ogden. They were active temple goers. He served on the No. Ogden City Council, and was principal of Roy, North Ogden, Bates, and H. Guy Child Elementary Schools. He was a dedicated educator that devoted over 40 years to his profession in Manti, Lyman, WY, and the Weber School District. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy, for four years in the Pacific Campaign. He played various sports at Snow College and BYU and remained an avid sports fan throughout his life. He received degrees from Snow College, BYU and his Masters of Education from Utah State University. He loved all children, but especially his own, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a devoted father and grandfather and we will miss him terribly. Surviving are his children, Graig (Ceci) Larsen, Thousand Oaks, CA; Roger (Barbara) Larsen, Roy, UT; Krystal (John) Mills, Clinton, UT; Cynthia (John) Church, Fresno, CA; Terry Larsen, No. Ogden, UT; Peggy (Brad) Ence, St. George, UT; Tracy (Tammy) Larsen, Lee Summit, MO; Glen (Ida) Larsen, No. Ogden, UT; 39 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Duane (Dorene) Larsen, West Valley, UT; Renaye Wright, Seattle, WA; and Garth (Luanna) Larsen, Aurora, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his brother Max; and sisters Jean, Bessie, Verda and Carol.
