Kristine Malouf

–

San Carlos, California

Kristine (Kris) Malouf, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, in her home in San Carlos, California. She had just celebrated her birthday at her "happy place" with a luncheon in Half Moon Bay, California, hosted by special high school friends. Her happy place was a view of the ocean. She had also enjoyed two other special outings with dear friends to celebrate her birthday.
Kris, born in Ogden, Utah, on October 18, 1952, was the fourth child of Murray J. and Karlene Z. Malouf. Kris was not given a name for a while after she was born but was called "Tula," Norwegian for "doll," according to our maternal grandmother. That nickname stuck for many years.
When Kris was six years old, the family moved from Ogden to the San Francisco Bay Area and settled in Belmont, California, in 1959. Kris attended Barrett Elementary and graduated from Carlmont High School in 1970.
Kris is survived by her siblings, Kathleen (David) Greenwood of American Fork, Utah; Craig (Renee) Malouf of Alpine, Utah; Mark (Tina) Malouf of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Karrie (David) Hitchcock of Eagle, Idaho. Kris is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews, 16 great-nieces and great-nephews, 2 great-great-nephews, an aunt and an uncle, and many wonderful cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and grandparents.
Kris attended the College of San Mateo and then began her career at Wells Fargo in Half Moon Bay. She worked for the American Automobile Association in San Carlos for many years and retired from the San Mateo County Transit District in 2018.
Kris loved the 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. She would gear up in the teams' respective clothing for each game and enjoyed gifting team T-shirts and ball caps. When a game was on, her phone conversations were very short!
Kris's other joys in life, not necessarily in this order, were shopping, nature, summer and holiday visits to family in Utah and Idaho, a good meal with friends, classic country and classic rock and roll music, ice cream, carrot cake, Lebanese food, butterflies, dragonflies, lavender, Solitaire (her game was set so she always won), Rodeo lunches and Zoom calls with high school friends every Friday afternoon, and making greeting cards with Penny and friends. Kris was just fun to be with.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 4, at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Visitation before the service will be from 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm at the mortuary. Interment will be at Ogden City Cemetery next to her parents.
The family deeply appreciates the tender friendship and care by so many of her California friends who became her family. Thank you so for all the unknown kindnesses you showed to our sister. Kristine's service will be live streamed and can be watched by scrolling down to the bottom of the obituary page, it will remain on the website indefinitely.
A no-host gathering will be held at Harry's Hofbrau in Redwood City, California, on Wednesday, November 8, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Kris loved animals, and the family requests memorial donations be made to an animal rescue center of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-mortuary.com. We love you, Sissy.
