Lacey Ralphs Henstra Obituary (1976 - 2018)

It is with sorrow, but a rising sense of peace that we announce the passing of a loving daughter, sister, mother, and friend, Lacey Ralphs Henstra, who left us far too soon on Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Ogden Regional Medical Center in Ogden Utah. Lacey was born on February 20, 1976, in Ogden, Utah, as the third child and only daughter to Winston Michael Ralphs and Ethel Ruth Ralphs Pyle. She grew up in her youth in Sunset, Utah and later moved to the Taylorsville, Utah area where she graduated from Taylorsville High School in 1994. She was a very active and playful child that loved the outdoors, being teased by her brothers, and had the most amazing imagination. She could play for hours on end with her Barbie doll while dressing up the family dog, Ginger. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lacey married Chad Henstra in 1998 in West Point, Utah. They were later divorced. Yet, from that union came the three things she cherished the most, her daughter Mika, son Dawson, and a baby girl, Devanie who came and returned so quickly to Heaven. The loss of Devanie was truly one of the great sorrows of Lacey's life. The other, being the loss of her father in 2006. Always being a "daddy's little girl," Lacey adored her father, as he cherished her dearly. Lacey knew the day would come when she would be reunited with those precious loves of her life. Believing that has now occurred brings a happiness that comforts us all in our grief. For Lacey's beloved Mika and Dawson, they will forever have the memories of her love for them, her contagious smile, her charitable work for several such organizations, swimming in mountain lakes and streams, hunting trips, gardening, and the love she held for her little dogs. They will remember the words, "Light and Love" that they will instantly associate with their mother, as she spoke of it often. One day into the future, as they play catch and hacky sack with their own children, they will recall the glad times spent with their mother doing the same thing and with a smile, tell them of their grandma Lacey. Yet, beyond these cherished memories, they will remember, as will anyone who knew her, that she truly possessed unconditional love. She was a woman of kindness and caring for everyone she met, especially for those who were often overlooked. She was generous and would gladly give all she had, even to a stranger, if needed. This will always be her greatest legacy. Lacey is survived by her loving children, Mika and Dawson, her mother, Ruth and stepfather Jeff Pyle, her stepmother, Amanda Ralphs, her brothers, Duane Ralphs (Jennifer) and Terry Ralphs (Lisa), and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember her as a unique and special individual that in spite of her many struggles, always greeted them joyously, making each feel of her love. Lacey was preceded in death by her father, Michael Ralphs, daughter, Devanie Henstra, and all four grandparents. As family we would like to express our gratitude to the nurses in the ICU unit at Ogden Regional Medical Center, Dr. Gurjeet Grover, as well as the respiratory therapists with a very special thanks to Melanie and Seth. Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, February 3 (her father's birthday) at the Myers Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West Roy, Utah. A viewing, prior to the services, will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be at the West Point Cemetery.
