Lamar Carver Dewey Obituary (1913 - 2004)

LaMar Hammon Carver Dewey OGDEN - LaMar H. Dewey, our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully at her home Sunday, July 11, 2004. LaMar was born November 23, 1913 in Roy, UT, the fourth child of Amasa Marion and Edith Ann Hobson Hammon. She was raised in Roy and in Ogden, and graduated from Weber High School. On August 15, 1934, LaMar married Don C. Carver in the Logan LDS Temple, moving thereafter to Plain City. Don died in October 1964. LaMar had a long career of professional sewing, starting at Ogden Knitting Mills and ending her vocation as a power sewing machine operator, repairing parachutes and other military equipment at Defense Depot Ogden. In September 1969, LaMar married John Eldon Dewey. They traveled extensively, and together shared their love for golf, horse racing, and family. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. As a young woman, LaMar had been a substitute school teacher and later had given several years of teaching Junior Sunday School for her church. Her greatest lessons, however, were those she taught of love and devotion to her family. Our hearts break that you are gone from us, sweetheart. "90 yearsa"a lady." Surviving are her husband, John, and children, Geraldine Carver Noble, JoAnne Dewey Parker, John (JoAnne) Dewey, Joyce Carver (Roland) Burk, Gary (Maxine) Dewey, Robert (Anne) Carver, Christine Dewey (Paul) Avondet, Bryan (Kelly) Dewey, 25 grandchildren (three deceased), 29 great grandchildren (one deceased), and six great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Billie Kap and Ruth (Delbert) Owen. She was preceded in death by one son, Don Richard Carver, her parents, two brothers, and four sisters.
