Lamar B Sessions Obituary (1913 - 2010)

LaMar B Sessions WEST POINT - LaMar B Sessions died peacefully Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the age of 96 in his home with his loving wife at his side. LaMar was born November 16, 1913 in Ogden, Utah. He was raised in Syracuse, Utah and has lived in West Point, Utah for the last 60 years. He is the son of Oel Clark Sessions and Alice Erma Barber Sessions. He married Lola May White on November 16, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple on his birthday. They celebrated 71 years of marriage. He had a strong testimony and was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a Southern States Mission and North Davis Stake Mission. He served in Presidencies of Sunday School and MIA in Wards and Stake. He was an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. He sang with LDS Ward Choirs for about 35 years and sang with the Men of Song for 28 years. He graduated from Davis High School, attended Utah State and Weber College. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting with his son. He was the first full time employee of R.C. Willey. LaMar was a Charter member of the Syracuse Lion's Club. He performed with Davis County Sheriff Mounted Posse. He liked to read good books and shared his love of reading with his wife. He and his wife, Lola traveled extensively in the United States and foreign countries. He retired from Utah State Transportation Supply Office in 1978. After retirement he made Latch Hook Rugs and Hemstitched flannel baby blankets. He is preceded in death by his son, John LaMar Sessions, his parents and brother, Clark Sessions and sister, Helen (Sessions) Guernsey. He is survived by his wife, Lola Sessions, three sisters-in-law, Lucile Page, Thelma White, Gloria White, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at LDS 10th Ward, 2865 West 300 North, West Point, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 5, 2010 at Myers Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to services on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church.
