LaRene Maisak

–

Roy, Utah

Our dear mother, LaRene Carter Maisak, 96, passed away peacefully in her home on April 6, 2025. She was born February 15, 1929 in Garland Utah to James Lawrence and LaVona Garn Carter. Raised on the family farm, she learned the value of hard work, thriftiness and charity.

She attended Bear River High where she met her future husband at a football game. She married Roger Maisak July 29, 1946 at her parents home in Garland. They had 3 children. They were sealed for time and all eternity on April 28, 1964 in the Logan Temple. In 1958 the family moved to Roy Utah where mother lived for the rest of her life. She enjoyed a career as a book-keeper and worked for JCPenny, Bank of Utah, Roy High School and Pillsbury where she retired.

Mother served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and provided compassionate service for many members. She also enjoyed the arts. She loved to attend operas, ballets and musicals - especially when a family member was performing. Mother was a very talented pianist and also enjoyed playing the organ.
She used her skills and talents to serve her family. All her children have a quilt made by the hands of herself, her mother and her sisters. Her grandchildren cherish the baby blankets made by their Grandmother.

Mother enjoyed many friendships throughout the years. She enjoyed Bridge, girls night and traveling. There were few countries and states she had not visited. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for 30 years.

Mother was very passionate about genealogy. Her collection of names, stories and pictures were extensive. She also compiled much information and pictures into books that she gifted to her loved ones as a legacy of love for the work. She said she had grown to appreciate, love and feel a special closeness for all her ancestors through doing genealogy.

Family was a priority to mother and loved to gather them together often. We all carry many wonderful memories of Holidays and cookouts in the backyard throughout the years.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Suzanne Samples, Michael (Denise) Maisak, and Janet (Kyle) Brown. Also by her 11 grandchildren, her 38 great-grandchildren and her 8 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, parents, siblings; Doris Maisak, Ralph Carter, Marian Anderson, Joanne Greer, brother in-law, Vern Maisak, sister in-law, Janet Carter, son in-law, Larry Samples and 3 great-grandchildren; Sarah Hart, Zachary Hart and Josef Von Niederhausern.

The family would like to thank the Applegate Hospice team; Gina, Debbie, Rhonda, Dan and Heather for their loving care.
