Larene Cowan Oleson Obituary (1918 - 2009)

LaRene (Lorene) Cowan Oleson ROY- LaRene (Lorene) Cowan Oleson, 90, left this world on Thursday, October 29, 2009. She was born December 12, 1918, to Roy Lincoln and Amy Eliza Martin Cowan, in Clearfield. She attended Clearfield Elementary and graduated from Davis High School. Her older sister Maude named the "Davis Darts" and she was proud of her. She attended Weber College. She married Golden R. Oleson on August 16, 1939, in the Salt Lake Temple, by President David O. McKay. They made their homes in Roy, building four new homes. She loved to travel, which she and her husband enjoyed together. LaRene was the second Relief Society President in the Roy 5th Ward and served in the Primary in the ward, and Roy Stake. She loved life and all the many blessings and beautiful flowers in her yard. She lived in the "Garden of Eaten" with all her fruits and berries that her husband planted. LaRene is survived by her two sons who she loved, Robert Lewis (Sharon), Roy, and Darrell LeRoy (Robyn) West Haven, 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Shirley P. Oleson, Clinton, and a sister which she adored, Connie E. Wilcox of West Lynn, Oregon. Her treasures were her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Golden Romriell Oleson, son Larry Golden Oleson, parents, and her sister Maude. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the Roy 5th Ward, 5301 South 2100 West, Roy, Utah. Friends and family may call on Sunday, November 1, 2009, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah, and on Monday from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church.
