"If you're reading this, then it must be true,
My Time on earth is finally through."
LaRonda Peterson Blakeley, wife of Steven S. Blakeley of Taylor, Utah, returned to our Heavenly Father, and into the arms of her son, Jeremy, as well as her parents and others who have gone before her. She was surrounded by her family as she passed peacefully in the comfort of her home.
LaRonda was born February 6, 1952 to George A. and Jacqueline Cooper Peterson. Her father taught her the value of hard work while her mother taught her the importance of prayer and play.
On February 15, 1969, LaRonda married her best friend and hero, Steven S. Blakeley. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple. Together they helped to "multiply and replenish the earth" with 9 fantastic children. Those children gave LaRonda and Steve the best gift of all, 19 precious grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Children, spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchild are as follows: Shane (Linda) Blakeley - Brittany, Alexandra, Randi of Perry, Utah, Nicole (Lorin) Howard - Kylee, Kiara, Kloe of North Ogden, Utah, Dustin (Jackie) Blakeley - Ashton, Ava of West Point, Utah, Stephanie (Terry) Jensen - Dallin, Addison of Layton, Utah, Joshua (Katie) Blakeley - Kyler, Kaden, Jaycie of St. George, Utah, Andrew Blakeley of Taylor, Utah, Mandee (Keith) Hall - Annabelle of French Camp, California, Jenni (Tyler) Tatton - Makayla, Madison, Mason of Roy, Utah; married grandchildren: Monica (Adan) Chavez - Julian of Washington Terrace, Utah, Kiersten (Karl) Prescott of Ogden, Utah.
LaRonda loved family get-togethers. She was happiest when the grandchildren were around her, whether at Cherry Hills, Lava or just at home with the family. LaRonda's goal was for every grandchild to feel they were her favorite, and they were. She loved to attend any of their activities and was known to call on birthdays to sing to them, this included her own children, no matter how old.
LaRonda has a strong testimony of the Gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was proud and felt it a privilege to be in the Taylor 1st Ward for over 30 years and recently the Wilson 4th Ward, surrounded by love and compassion. She held many positions and loved to teach others. She believed strongly in prayer and during her illness, prayer was her best pain reliever and sleeping aid.
LaRonda spent many years not only caring for her own children, but also caring for other children. She later earned her Child Development Associate and became an instructor for other child care providers. She spoke at numerous conferences and workshops locally and as far away as Alaska. She loved to share her talents.
LaRonda is survived by her husband, Steve; children; spouses; grandchildren and great-grandchild mentioned before. Also surviving are the "best Sisters in the world", Kay Lynn (Neil) Mulhall and VaLoy (Bob) Ancin; her brother Kevin George (Brenda) Peterson and Steve's parents, Ray W. and E. June Blakeley.
"Special thanks to all of you who have touched my life and made me a better person. I have the best family and friends that ever could be, and I probably never said "I love You" enough. Steve, I'll keep the seat next to me warm, waiting for you. And God be with you until we meet again."
The family would like to extend their deep appreciation for those who offered medical care, friendship, prayers, and a good laugh to LaRonda and family during her health struggles. It was LaRonda's request that instead of flowers, donations be made to primary Children's Medical Center or to Huntsman Cancer Research. It was also her request that you hold your loved ones a little closer, share a warm smile with a stranger, and live life to the fullest.
