Larry Evans Lortz
March 24, 1942 – September 12, 2026

Larry Evans Lortz was born on March 24, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a resident of Roy, Utah, for over 44 years.

Larry served an honorable two-and-a-half-year mission to Northern Germany from 1961 to 1963, and at the end of his mission met his wife, Anneliese, while searching for family genealogy. They married on June 11, 1964, in the St. George Temple.

Larry graduated from BYU with a Master's degree in Physics in 1968. His dedication was evident not only in his 40-year career of civilian service for the federal government as an electrical engineer for the United States Air Force at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, and the Naval Undersea Warfare Engineering Station in Keyport, Washington, but also in his personal life. Family mattered most to Larry, and he cherished the legacy he was building for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Larry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a keen enthusiast of genealogy and BYU sports, hobbies that reflected his love of history and competition. His journey took him from Las Vegas, Nevada, to St. George, Utah; to his mission in Germany; to college in Provo, Utah; to Bremerton, Washington; and finally to Roy, Utah. Every place he lived was blessed by his kindness and dedication.

Larry is survived by his wife, Anneliese; children Miriam (Jeff), Andre (Cara), and Monika (Daryl); eight grandchildren, Chloe (Jonny), Jillian (Derek), Carly, Arica, Kyle, Emili, Rhett, and Ryan; and seven great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, Carus Lortz; his mother, Mary Lortz; and his sister, Mary Ann Cooke.

In lieu of flowers, please spend time with a loved one and let them know how grateful you are for them.

A family-only graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Boulevard, Ogden, Utah, 84404.
