Larry Truman Lund

TAYLOR - Larry Truman Lund son of Aliene Anderson and Eugene V. Lund born April 16, 1940, passed away unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, March 20, 2007.

He is survived by his wife Verlene Sue Wight Lund who he married November 16, 1973. They were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple April 1993. They were the parents of Eric Truman Lund (Lora Oman), Stefanie Lund (deceased), Jennica Sue Lund (deceased) and Janese Lund.

He was previously married to Renate Reuter Bell and their children were James S. Bell (Brandie), Curtiss Lawrence Lund (Rose), and Volkmar Brent Lund (Dena). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, two brothers Lee Alfred Lund (Annette), and Brent Eugene Lund (Midge). Preceded in death by sister Annette Lund.

He graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College.

Larry was a veteran of Vietnam War serving four tours of duty as a medic in the Army. He earned three purple hearts, two silver stars, two bronze stars, Air Medal for bravery, distinguished fly cross, a Vietnamese medal and several other medals.

Larry loved sports of all kinds and coached many teams at all levels. He was a football trainer/coach for Davis County High Schools for 18 years. He also coached girls high school softball in Davis and Weber County schools for nine years. He was always a positive influence on all the students he coached and the coaches he served with.

He was an active member of the LDS Church. He has held many jobs in the church. He served 25 years as Young Men Secretary.

He made many trips all over the world and enjoyed all the time he spent traveling with family and friends. He loved the outdoors and he did a lot of hunting, camping, fishing, and horseback riding.

He was a man of few words, but when he spoke his statements were full of wit and wisdom. He is loved dearly and will be missed by many.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Taylor Second Ward Bldg, 2200 South 4300 West, Taylor, Utah. Friends and family may call on Friday at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
