LARRY LEE SIMPSON

ROY - Larry Simpson passed away Monday, May 20, 2002 at McKay-Dee Hospital due to respiratory failure and complications of diabetes.

He was born August 27, 1943 in Evanston, Wyoming to Austin and Faye Simpson.

Larry grew up in Granger, Wyoming and spent summers working at the Tripp ranch. He loved the ranch and the wonderful family who lived there. Larry had a real love for the outdoors and a keen appreciation for the wildlife and beauty of the prairie. He was an avid fly fisherman and hunter.

He attended Lincoln High School in Green River, Wyoming, where he played football and was state champion in shot put. Larry always felt that coach John Shickich was an inspiration in his life and was a real hero to him.

Larry attended Western Wyoming Junior College, he was in the Wyoming National Guard, and worked as a Police Officer in Evanston.

He married LaRue Calder in 1968. They have lived in Roy, Utah for 34 years.

He recently retired from Hercules, Inc. where he worked for 27 years.

Larry's favorite places to solve the world's problems and swap fishing stories was Dee's Service Station and the VFW where he shot a pretty fair game of darts.

Any mention of Larry would not be complete without the mention of his dog Mookie. They were best friends who never went far without each other.

Larry is survived by his wife; his daughter Amy, her husband Jed DeVries and their children Hannah McCall and Bo. Also two grandsons, Harley and Travis Gould. His mother Faye Slagowski; sisters, Verna and Bill Oliva, Verla and Bob Hysell, Kay and Bill Bennett, and one brother Clark Slagowski.

He was preceded in death by his sons Chad, Bob, and David.
