Larue Olsen Checketts Tolman Obituary (1931 - 2010)

LaRue Olsen Tolman LaRue Olsen Checketts Tolman passed away 23 February 2010 surrounded by loved ones. She was born 22 September 1931 in Idaho Falls, ID to Mae DeLone Harris and Bennie (Ben) Arthur Olsen. She was the second of three children. Her older sister Maurine has preceded her in death, and her younger brother Dean Fred lives in Springville, UT. LaRueAAA 1/2s own mother preceded her in death, passing away when LaRue was only 2-years old. Ben moved his small family to Brigham City after remarrying to Linfred (Pat) Laysen. She has lived in Brigham City until poor health forced her to move closer to family in Utah Valley. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1949 and married James Kay Checketts in 1950. They divorced in 1979. In 1998 she married LeRoy Abinadi Tolman, who passed away in May, 2006. LaRue retired from Box Elder County Bank in 1993 after working there 28 years. Her hobby of sewing baby pajamas as gifts for family and friends turned into a little business that kept her busy, financially secure, and well remembered. Her stroke in 2004 was a blow to her self reliance. Moving to American Fork, close to her daughter Susan was a blessing that would sustain her until her passing. LaRue is survived by her brother Dean Fred Olsen; her children: Randy Kay and Akiko (Watanabe) Checketts, Michael Ben and Debra Lyn (Thompson) Checketts, David A. and Susan (Checketts) Johnson, and James R. and Suzanne (Lauritsen) Checketts. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Her family wishes to extend their thanks to all those at Greenwood Assisted Living in Lehi, UT and 1st Choice Hospice of Utah Valley for all their wonderful kindness and compassionate care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary 205 S.100 E., Brigham City. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Honeyville Cemetery.
