LAURA COMMANDER
ROY - Our Mom, Laura Commander, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2004 from complications of cancer. She was a fighter who wouldn't give up... this time the battle was too much.
She was born in Los Angeles on September 13, 1922, the daughter of Pete and Frances Ricca. She had two wonderful sisters, Dorothy and Margaret, who preceded her in death.
She married Jay Commander on December 11, 1945, and they were together until his death in 2000. During their marriage, they lived in California, Texas, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana. They returned to Utah after Jay retired from the Forest Service to be closer to their two daughters, Fran Moore (Brent Moore) and Susan Semba (Rick Semba) and her grandson, Brian Moore.
Laura loved her golf, and missed the good times and good people at Ben Lomond Golf Course. She spent many winters in Beaver Dam, Arizona and had many good friends who meant so much to her.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, and also spent time at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, her grandson and her extended family. Fred and Pam, Pete and Annie, Edy and Uncle Bill. We thank her great neighbors who were always there to check up on her and offer their help. Special thanks to Dr. Vincent Hansen and his wonderful staff who kept her smiling and hopeful. We will miss her.
She requested no flowers but any contribution to help fight cancer would be appreciated.
