LauRene Thompson Buswell CLICK TO LISTEN TO FUNERAL SERVICE North Ogden - LauRene Thompson Buswell brightened and blessed many lives in her 89 years. She died April 22, 2010. She married Don Averett Buswell August 27, 1943, in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death by four months. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Merwin Thompson and Martha Hansen, her siblings Evelyn Weenig, Harold and Norman Thompson. She leaves five children: MarnAC. (Richard) Isakson, Karen (Larry) Harris, Bob (Kathy) Buswell, Keith (Tricia) Buswell, Blair (Julie) Buswell, 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law Belle Willis, relatives, and many friends. LauRene was born April 18, 1921, in Plain City, Utah. She attended grade schools there and graduated from Weber High, Weber College, and BYU majoring in home economics. During World War II, she taught school, married, and had eleven honeymoons with Don because of his military tours. She then devoted her life to being the best wife and mother she could be. She delighted in using her homemaking skills and making her home "a heaven on earth." She was named the 1988 Weber County Mother of the Year. She supported her husband in his endeavors and he in hers. What a team! LauRene was active in the LDS Church and the spiritual support of many. She served in every auxiliary and was on the Primary General Board for over nine years, a Relief Society President, and an Assistant Matron in the Ogden Temple. She served the community through the PTA, dental auxiliaries, Chareya Club, Weber State Emeritus Alumni Board, North Ogden Library, McKay-Dee Women's Center Advisory Board, and as a "mother" of two foreign exchange students. She was a Den Mother and 4-H leader, reporter and a member of the North Ogden Book Club for nearly 40 years. With her love and commitment to education, all her children and many of her grandchildren graduated from college. A contribution may be made in her honor to the Merwin Thompson Scholarship Fund at Weber State University. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the North Ogden 20th Ward, 3100 N. 575 E., North Ogden. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., and prior to the services at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in the Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 E. 2850 N., North Ogden.
