Laurene Budge Patterson
Laurene Budge Patterson, 78, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in Burley, Idaho.
She was born August 18, 1935, in Ogden, Utah; the daughter of Wallace Rushton and Josephine Manzel Budge. Laurene was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, and a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in countless positions of teaching, leadership and service, in Primary, the Relief Society and Young Women's organizations. Laurene was a life-time member of the PTA, serving as president multiple times, and was awarded the PTA's highest honor for parent participation.
Laurene adored her husband, her high-school sweetheart, and was a faithful and devoted wife for him. She bore him three fine sons and five beautiful daughters. They acquired seven more children through marriage. In addition to being a full-time, loving mother to her own children, she dearly loved the youth of the church. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to cross-stitch. She created many beautiful cross-stich pictures and delicate handiwork that bless many homes. She lived a life of charm and grace, truly exemplifying the motto: Charity Never Faileth. Laurene loved music. She played the French horn, and had a lovely alto singing voice. She sang in many choirs and small groups over the years. She particularly loved the hymns of the church. She drove her children to many music lessons, and loved to hear them play and see them perform. She also supported her children in many sporting events over the years, including their involvement in football, basketball, volleyball and soccer leagues.
Laurene is survived by her husband of 58 years, F. John Patterson; three sons, Michael (Gloria) Patterson of Grand Prairie, Texas, Craig (Judy) Patterson of Logan, Utah and Chris (Robyn) Patterson of Burley, Idaho; five daughters, Amy (Curtis) Rasmussen of Lewisville, Texas, Susan (Wayne) Demill of West Jordan, Utah, Jolene Patterson of Grand Prairie, Texas, Jennie (Adam) Camphuysen of North Richland Hills, Texas and Annette (Seth) Wood of Luther, Oklahoma; 33 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, W.
