LaVere Arlie Campbell "Bud", 85, passed away Wednesday March 25, 2015 at home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born June 30, 1929 in Ogden UT to Lettie Chadwick and Arlie Campbell. He married Beth Pauline Nelson on June 5, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bud was a devoted husband, Dad, and Grandpa. He was a shining example of a life of service; to his family, church, country, and the North Ogden community.
Bud attended Weber High School. After high school Bud started college at Weber State College for two years then served an LDS mission in Libby Montana. Upon his return from his mission, Bud finished his studies at the University of Utah in 1954 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He joined the US Army in 1954 and served in the Korean War. When he returned home, he spent the next 33 years working for Thiokol. Bud's name is still well recognized as a master engineer. When he retired he continued working in his basement shop building just about anything you can imagine, fixing a car, a lawnmower, or another mechanical apparatus, and letting the grandkids use the tools and play with the gun powder. Bud was a member of the Ogden Kiwanis Club and the Utah Division Pistoleers. In his spare time he enjoyed reading, reading, reading, fishing, camping, watching The New Yankee Workshop, and spending time with kids and grandkids.
Bud was fortunate to spend the last years of his life in Colorado in the loving care of his oldest granddaughter, Camille Nielsen Drawyer, and her family. The family wishes to offer special thanks for her devotion, sacrifice, and love in his difficult waning years.
Surviving are his children; two daughters and a son, Colynn Hamilton (Jack) of Germany, CindyAnn Madsen (Clair) of Riverton UT, Neil A Campbell of Ogden UT; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, and two sisters, Cleone Campbell Lewis and Melva Campbell Kammeyer.
