L. Don Olpin Obituary (1936 - 2015)

L. Don Olpin Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and lifelong educator, completed his journey in mortality on July 29, 2015 from causes incident to age. Don was born November 5, 1936 in Lehi, Utah to Lawrence D. and Cynthia Larsen Olpin. He married his eternal sweetheart, Esther Dillman on July 27, 1961 in the Logan LDS Temple. He graduated from BYU and taught history, geography and English at Roy Junior High School for 39 years. He loved to vacation with his family, especially at Yellowstone National Park. Don and Esther enjoyed attending football and basketball games at Weber State University. Above all, his favorite past time was spending time with his family. He served an LDS Mission to the Gulf States Mission. He enjoyed serving God by ministering and teaching God's children. He served in many callings, including Bishop, Stake and Ward Executive Secretary and he loved to teach Gospel Doctrine and Family History. Don and Esther served two missions together in the Ogden Utah Mission and in the Ogden Temple. Don is survived by his eternal companion, Esther; children, Lynn (Margaret), Dale (Diana), Elaine (James) Child, Alan (Sarah), Gary, Ann (Kim) Olsen, Jill (Wayne) Child; 18 grandchildren and two siblings, Noreen Randall and Glen Olpin. He was preceded in death by his son, Kent and his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Rock Cliff 3rd Ward, 2nd and Porter. A viewing will be held on August 7th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. and prior to the service at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the LDS Church Missionary Fund.
