Leatha Wheeler Smith Obituary (1906 - 2005)

LEATHA WHEELER SMITH SUNSET -- Leatha Wheeler Smith, 99, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2005 at Apple Village Assisted Living in Layton, Utah. She was born May 9, 1906 in Lewiston, Utah, the daughter of Simon and Jane Mills Wheeler. Leatha married Orval Joseph Smith on August 24, 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; he passed away September 25, 1967. She was a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her lifetime she was privileged to serve in all of the organizations of the church and was a temple worker for 22 years. Her hobbies included ceramics, quilting and handiwork. She loved to travel, but the light of her life was her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her two daughters, Charlyne (Grant) Wise, Sunset, UT and Tamara Kelly of West Valley City, UT; ten grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a daughter, Myrna Smith, and son-in-law, Daniel L. Kelly; four brothers and three sisters.
