BRIGHAM CITY - Leola Iverson Stewart passed away on February 2, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 9, 1924 in Bear River City, UT to Glen and Gertrude Iverson. She found her sweetheart at the U.S. Army Bushnell hospital in Brigham City, UT during World War II and was married to Ralph G. Stewart on September 11, 1943.
Leola and Ralph spent their first few years together pursuing Ralph's love of training and racing quarter horses. They eventually settled in Brigham City to raise a family and were blessed with two children Ralph Lynn Stewart (Susan) and Marla McKellar (Brian). After several years as a stay at home Mom, Leola reentered the work force as a Teller at the Brigham City Branch of First Security Bank, retiring after 20 years of service. She loved to work on jigsaw puzzles, play solitaire, and work in her yard. Her true love in life was taking care of her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will testify that no one ever went hungry at Grandma's house. We will always remember her Sunday roast with all the fixins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, and three brothers.
In addition to her two children, she is survived by seven grandchildren: Brian Stewart, Wendy Campbell (Roger), Stacy Van Brocklin (Ryan), Kelly Longmore (James), Jacob Vanderhoof (Elizabeth), Joel Kennington, and Jeremy Jensen (Karlee), and 10 (soon to be 11) great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. at the Mortuary.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
