Leone R. Blackinton

OGDEN - Leone R. Blackinton, 93, passed away January 21, 2008. She was born June 6, 1914 in Richville, Utah the daughter of Eliza D. Rich and Albert F. Rich. She grew up in Morgan, graduating from Morgan High. While playing the clarinet in the high school band she met her high school sweetheart Reynolds W. Blackinton and married him on January 29, 1936. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple June 6, 1975. Reynolds passed away February 5, 2001.

She first worked with her sister at the Mountain State Telephone and Telegraph Company in Morgan. After moving to Ogden with her husband she worked at the Joy Shop and Clifton's for many years. The job she loved most of all and put first before anything was that of wife, mother and homemaker. Mom loved to sew; creating every kind of dress, formal or outer wear. Everyone looked forward to her home cooked meals and always saved room for dessert. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge club, and enjoyed dance clubs with Reynolds. She and Reynolds enjoyed getting together with their many friends for a road trip or just a good laugh. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held numerous positions. She was a great example of unsinkable faith and the power of prayer.

She is survived by her four children Ann (Dale) Bramble, San Diego, CA; Paula (Rudy) Pace, Torrey, Utah; James (Dixie) Blackinton, Pleasant View, Utah and Sue (Joe) Hill, Ogden, Utah; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother and one sister, Albert (Colleen) Rich, and Martha Simonivic. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and one brother.

The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Foothills (35th) Ward, 1475 Cahoon, Ogden, Utah at 12:00 noon. A viewing will take place prior to service at 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Foothills Ward.
