Leopoldo (Leo) Rendon Obituary (1927 - 2008)

Leopoldo Rendon (Leo) ROY - Leopoldo Rendon (Leo), 80, died July 13, 2008 in Roy, UT. He was born August 16, 1927 in Monero, New Mexico the son of Miquel and Celsa Valdez Rendon. He married Sadie Martinez October 28, 1946 in Santa Fe, NM. They have resided in the Roy and Ogden area for 54 years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Leo retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 30 years of service. He was a volunteer for Senior's Nutrition Program and would pick up seniors and take them to the center; he also had two newspaper routes for the Standard Examiner. Leo enjoyed bingo, playing cards and loved to go to Wendover and loved to watch the Utah Jazz. He could fix anything on any car and would do so for anyone at anytime except Bingo Nights. Leo always had the prettiest flowers. He is survived by his wife Sadie; children Mike, Nelson (Gloria), Darlene (John) Overton and Kenny (Nadine); 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters Cordelia Abram and Candi (Joe) Lopez of NM. He was preceded in death by his son William "Billy" Rendon; brother Henry Rendon; sister Ester Miera; his parents and stepfather. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Apple Gate Hospice staff, especially Becky Wheelwright and Deana Oram and special friend Olivia Baca for taking such good care of Leo. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 514 24th St. Friends and family may call at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. on Wednesday, July 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Interment, Myers Evergreen Memorial Park.
