Leroy Halling Applonie Obituary (1949 - 2012)

LeRoy Halling Applonie "Hal" CLINTON-Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, LeRoy Halling Applonie, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, shortly after his eleventh grandchild was born. Hal was born January 1, 1949, to Beverly Jean Halling and LeRoy Norris Applonie. He was raised in Washington Terrace. Hal served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in the North Central States Mission (Minnesota, Manitoba). Upon returning from his mission he met and married his sweetheart Linda Genetti. They were married December 19, 1970. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden Temple on March 19, 1972. A woman couldn't have prayed for a better husband. He loved his sweetheart Linda, and they were able to take many fun trips together. When their children were younger they spent summers in the Uintah's camping and fishing, and the winters cross country skiing. He loved just being with his family. The entire family, all 22, spent a week in St. George this past March, and had a wonderful time together. He was and is so proud of his children and grandchildren. Hal enjoyed hiking, photography, biking, fishing, and tying flies. Hal served in many church callings. He served as Elders Quorum President, Finance Clerk for Several Bishops, Stake Young Men's, High Council, 1st Counselor in a Bishopric, and serving with his sweet wife in the Country Pines Branch. He loved going to the temple with Linda and his friends, and doing the work for their ancestors. Scouting was a true love. He believed in the program and the effect it had turning boys into men. He worked as a lighting consultant for 38 years, he was the best in the lighting field. His last 15 years he worked at Duncan Lighting in Bountiful, he enjoyed what he did. Hal is survived by his wife, Linda of Clinton, Chris and Gaylynn Applonie and Family of Hooper, Jenny and Shawn Allen of Roy, Lisa and Doug Tolton and Family of Clinton, Nick and Angie Applonie and Family of West Point, and Weston and Heidi Applonie and Family of Provo, and 11 grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Lily May Applonie, his parents, and father-in-law. Much appreciation to our family and friends, for their love and support, and to Dr. Stinnett and staff, and Rachael, our nurse. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at the Clinton North Stake Center, 1448 West 1800 North, Clinton, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 27, 2012, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah, and on Tuesday, from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m., prior to services at the church.
