Leslie (Porter) Whitmer

–

Clearfield, UT

Leslie Porter Whitmer, our loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandma (Nana) was welcomed home for a sweet reunion, by our Heavenly Father and her loving husband, Orson with all her loved ones that have gone on before, on May 1, 2020.
Leslie was born on March 24, 1943 which brought great joy to her family. James and Alice Porter were kind, loving parents who taught her to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. She grew up in the peaceful, scenic town of Heber Arizona, which her ancestors settled. She was a smiling blond girl who loved to play and be around her family. Leslie graduated from High School then went on to study at Eastern Arizona College in Safford. She got her Associates degree and a Secretarial Certificate. It was there she met her husband, Orson Arza Whitmer.
Leslie and Orson were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on September 5, 1963. While raising 7 children and a beloved foster daughter, Leslie served in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Primary, Relief Society and Young Women's programs. She loved to serve her family and friends. Leslie and Orson were loving and kind to all and welcomed many into their home. In 1982 Leslie and Orson moved their family to Farmington, Utah. Where she continued to serve in her church and raise her children. She strived to be a good example and regularly served her family and others with acts of kindness and a listening ear. Leslie also loved the stories in the scriptures and shared them with her children. She loved to read books and there were many cozy Sunday afternoons where all the family would gather in the living room to listen to her read good books and stories. She also was great at crocheting and sewing and was always improving her skills and sharing them with others.
Leslie loved being a grandma. She felt like each grandchild was a great treasure in her life. She loved to spend time with them and hear about their lives. Family meant everything to her. She would be their greatest defender if she felt like an injustice was done. She was a great support to her family. Leslie enjoyed being a great grandma and took on the name of "Nana" when the great-grandchildren were born. Leslie has a testimony of our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ and his Gospel. She wants all to know that they live and love all of us. Her greatest wish is to have her family around her in the eternities. We cherish our memories with her and look forward to the sweet reunion we will have with her in the eternities. Her last words on this earth and her abiding message to all was "I love you."
Leslie is survived by children, Leslie Joyee (Brian) Sperry, Orson (Suzette), Eric (Jolene), Beckee (Dan) Reeder, Damon (JaNae), Debbee, Seth (Megan). Sibling, Rose Reidhead. Her 28 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by husband, Orson Whitmer; her parents, James and Alice Porter; Rex and Claire Whitmer; sisters, Beth, Naoma, Vera, Mable; brothers, Robert, Wayne; and foster daughter, Maggie.
