Letha A. Leth Obituary (1920 - 2007)

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully March 22, 2007, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Canyon City, Colorado. She married Jens O. Leth on September 10, 1953. She resided in North Ogden for the last 41 years. During her life, Letha worked in a variety of jobs. Letha enjoyed working where she felt she made a difference and helped people. As a young woman, she joined the civilian corps during World War II, working at Pearl Harbor, HI. She was a licensed cosmetologist and enjoyed doing hair and getting to know her clients. Additionally, she worked as a Department Manager at the Ogden ZCMI for many years and enjoyed the interaction with her customers. Letha was an active member of her faith and enjoyed the relationships she made at the North Ogden 16th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In her final few years, she came to truly cherish those relationships with her fellow worshippers. Letha was quick with a smile and to share her views regarding nearly any subject. One of Letha's true loves was for her animal friends. Letha cared for many dogs and cats. She was quick to take in strays and unwanted animals and provide them with a name, meals and a safe place to stay. Additionally, Letha found great joy in making porcelain crafts such as dolls, figurines, mugs and chess sets and giving them away to those who would appreciate them. Letha is survived by her step-children: Barbara Howe of South Carolina; Peter (Sue) Leth of Salt Lake City, Utah; Judy (Tom) Price of Syracuse, Utah; daughter-in-law, Dian Leth, Tualatin, Oregon; 24 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Letha was preceded in death by her husband Jens O. Leth; her daughter Judy Storms; her stepson Gordon Leth; her stepdaughter Darlene Santos; two granddaughters and three grandsons. Letha and her family express their deep gratitude to those kind individuals who took a moment in their day to check-up and chat with Letha, especially after Jens passed, and the medical professionals at McKay-Dee Hospital.
