Julia Platt Lutz Obituary (1924 - 2006)

Mortuary information: Claire at Myers in Ogden, ph. 399-5613. Julia Platt Lutz ROY - Julia Platt Lutz returned to the arms of her eternal companion on May 17, 2006 at the age of 82. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her children of causes incident to age. Julia was born April 10, 1924 in the family home in Wilson Lane, Utah to James and Laura Garner Platt. She worked at Hill Air Force Base during World War II as "Rosey the Riveter" while she awaited marriage to ElRoy Lutz. They were married on April 18, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1997. She enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, traveling and cheering for the Utah Jazz. Julia was a member of the LDS Sandridge Ward where she served as Primary President and Relief Society President. She served in the name extraction program, scouting and in the Ogden Temple. Julia and ElRoy served a mission to Tampa, Florida. She is survived by her children Laura (Erne) Chaplin, Clearfield; Ralph (Helen) Lutz, Roy; Paul Lutz, Roy; Blaine (Barbara) Lutz, Farmington; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Lucille Wilson, Ogden; and brother Ersle (Erma) Platt, Bountiful. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Verla Lutz; son Glen P. Lutz; her parents; three brothers; one sister and a daughter-in-law Paulene Lutz. The family wishes to thank Dr. John Friden for his years of care. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sandridge Ward Chapel, 4900 S. 2000 W., Roy.
