LLOYD S. HOLT
ROY - Lloyd Stoker Holt, 89, passed away July 24, 2005 at his home after fighting old age and declining health to the very last minute. Lloyd was born April 22, 1916 in Clearfield and raised in Syracuse, Utah, one of ten children born to George and Evaline Holt.
Lloyd attended Davis county schools, graduating from Davis High School in 1934. While at Davis High and later at Utah State University, he excelled in baseball playing semi-pro ball throughout the state. After graduating from Utah State with a business degree, Lloyd enlisted in the Army and served his Country during WWII in England.
He was a member of the LDS Church. Prior to leaving for active duty he married his sweetheart Isabelle Edward on August 28, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised three sons. She preceded him in death on September 30, 1992.
In 1947 Lloyd went into business with his brother Robert. Together they opened the first 7up bottling plant in Wyoming, starting in Casper and then in Thermopolis. Lloyd sold his interest in the 7up business in 1957 and moved his family back to Utah, settling in Roy. In 1959 he and his brothers Robert and Grayden opened Holt Lanes bowling alley in Layton. It was here he made many friends in the bowling business. Lloyd operated the business for eight years before selling and going to work for the IRS until his retirement.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents George and Evaline, wife Isabelle, infant son John, son Guy, grandson Jacob, his eight brothers and one sister.
He is survived by sons Greg, Roy; and Jace and (Debbie), Roy; grandchildren Trent Holt, Natalie Anderson, Ashley Holt, Makenzie Holt and Allix Holt; great-grandson's Jake and Hayden Holt.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Julie Vasquez for her loving, dedicated care of Lloyd during the past 18 months, and IHC Hospice caregivers for their assistance.
