Lorna Vern Olsen Jones Obituary (1923 - 2013)

Lorna Jones ROY - Lorna Vern Olsen Jones, 89, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013. She was born June 25, 1923 in Logan, Utah to Alma and Louisa Ashbaker Olsen. She married Rodney Jones January 17, 1943 in the Logan Temple. Rodney passed away November 17, 2010. Lorna graduated from South Cache High School. She was raised in College Ward on her family's farm. She worked and retired from Hill Air Force Base after many years of service. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving 30 years as a Nursery Leader and in various other callings. She loved little children. She was always busy and very active, and enjoyed traveling with her husband and family. She was a jolly and joyful person who loved to serve others and taught others to serve by her example. Surviving are her son, Blate (Pamela) Minkler of Cedar City; a granddaughter Lorna and Rodney raised, Elease Espinoza of Layton; 12 grandchildren, and many great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Connie and Rolayne, and son Steven, 12 brothers and sisters and her husband Rodney. The family would like to thank Harmony Home Health and Hospice for their caring service during the last weeks of her life. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Lake View Ward, 4900 South 2000 West, Roy. A viewing will be held Wednesday at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
