Lou Ceil Emma Gibby Obituary (1916 - 2002)

LOU CEIL GIBBY ROYa"Lou Ceil Emma Butler Gibby slipped from this world on April 26, 2002. She was born on March 28, 1916 to Jonathan Elbert Butler and Elizabeth Caroline Ipsen. She grew up in Ogden and Marriott, Utah, and graduated from Weber High School and Weber College. She also attended Utah State University, where she worked in the bacteriology lab. Lou Ceil married the love of her life, Ralph F. Gibby, in the Salt Lake Temple on March 4, 1938. They lived happily in Roy, Utah, where they raised nine childrena"two daughters and seven sons. Lou Ceil was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life. There she served as Relief Society President, Primary President, a teacher for deaf children, Cub Scout Leader, a temple worker, and many other callings in her ward and stake. She and her husband, Ralph, also served a full-time mission together in the Atlanta, Georgia Mission. She was a member of the Aprender Guild and the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers. She loved gardening and raised beautiful flowers. For the past two years she lived at the Peach Tree Place in Roy, which she dearly loved and where she had many friends. Lou Ceil is survived by her nine children; Carol Jean Shaw (Robert) Lord, Salt Lake City, UT; Robert R. (Dorothy) Gibby, Layton, UT; Donald J. (Lael) Gibby, Riverdale, UT; John (Shawna) Gibby, Layton, UT; Douglas W. (Elaine) Gibby, Brigham City, UT; Keith O. (Annette) Gibby, Holden, MO; Paul B. (Julianne) Gibby, North Ogden, UT; Beth L. (John) Sever, Woodriver, IL; and Mark H. (Jane) Gibby, Preston, ID. Also surviving are 45 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Butler; and a sister, Pauline Barnett, both of Ogden, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Ralph; a sister, Mary Butler Hansen; and a brother, Frank Butler.
