Louise Thurgood Hodgson
LAYTON -- Our mother, Louise Hodgson, age 88, joyfully reunited with her eternal companion on Sunday, February 11, 2007 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Loran and Abby Thurgood and a lifelong resident of Syracuse, Utah. She married Roy L. Hodgson on March 1, 1937 and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mom ws first and foremost a loving mother and grandmother. She was a very talented individual and shared her gifts with many family members and friends. Any holiday was an opportunity for her to handcraft a special item for each child and grandchild. She loved to quilt, cross-stitch, crochet and enjoyed painting ceramics and making porcelain dolls. She was an outstanding cook and enjoyed sharing recipes and techniques with her daughters and daughters-in-law.
Mom was blessed throughout her life with loving and loyal friends, many of whom still faithfully visited her. As a family we appreciate all the love and support they have offered to her over the years.
Louise was raised on a dairy farm, married a farmer, and continued throughout her life to make hard work a priority. She was active in the LDS church and served the Lord in many callings, both ward and stake.
She is survived by her four children, Karren (Seth) Schick, Peterson, Utah; Kent (Sue) Hodgson, Lima, Montana; Dean (Bonnie) Hodgson, Kuna, Idaho; Colleen (Michael) Pluim, Kaysville, Utah. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Ben (Donna) Thurgood of Syracuse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, and her parents, Loran and Abby Thurgood.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West. A viewing will be held Friday evening, February 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to the services on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation for the loving care given to our mom by Apple Village Assisted Living and Applegate Hospice Care as well as the love and support from the Apple Village Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
