Lucene Maxfield Thompson Chatterton Obituary (1922 - 2011)

Lucene Maxfield Thompson Chatterton ROY-Lucene Chatterton, loving matriarch of our family, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011, at the age of 89. She was born in Grace, Idaho, on October 18, 1922, a daughter of Clyde Melvin and Ellen Irene Maxfield Thompson. She spent her early years in Idaho, with the last fifty years living in Roy. On September 11, 1940, she was married to John W. Chatterton, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lucene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and served faithfully in many positions throughout her life. She was a member of Utah Daughters of Pioneers, and she loved reading books. She is survived by her five sons; Roger J. (Kathy) Chatterton, Monroe, Washington, Kent C. Chatterton, Mesa, Arizona, Jerry G. (Teri) Chatterton, West Point, Brian L. (Kathleen) Chatterton, Roy, Kim J. (Patty) Chatterton, Broomfield, Colorado, 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her brothers; Jack Thompson, Providence, Glen Thompson, Pocatello, Idaho, and sister; Joyce Payne, Salt Lake City. Lucene was preceded in death by her husband, grandson Todd Chatterton, three sisters, and three brothers. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Family Tree, West Point, and Hospice for Utah. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Roy 3rd Ward, 5930 South 2200 West, Roy, Utah with Bishop Dennis Brown officiating. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah, and on Wednesday from 9:40 - 10:40 a.m., prior to services at the church.
