Lucile Peirce Nelson

–

Pleasanton, CA

Pleasanton, CA: Our courageous and valiant mother and grandmother, Lucile Peirce Nelson, 86, passed away peacefully from cancer on Friday, August 9, 2002, in Pleasanton, CA, at the home of her son.

She was born on January 26, 1916, in Kansas City, MO, to Louis St. Germaine and Anna Agnes McCarty. Her parents passed away while she was young, and she was adopted by her mother's sister and husband, Leonard and Ruth McCarty Peirce.

She married LaRue B. Nelson in Brigham City, Utah, on June 23, 1934. He passed away on April 22, 1972. She moved to California in 1984.

She attended school in Brigham City. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a telephone operator in Brigham City and later at Thiokol.

She enjoyed many things in life: knitting, reading, playing the organ, bridge, and keeping abreast of current events and sports. Her mind was sharp until the end. She experienced many trials in her life and always maintained her dignity and a positive attitude. Her greatest joy was when surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her three sons, Richard P. Nelson (Sandra) of Tremonton, UT; Kent L. Nelson (Peggy) of Citrus Heights, CA; and Steven K. Nelson (Mavis) of Pleasanton, CA. She has 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her adopted sister, Marie Peters of Denver, CO, and adopted brothers, Earl Peirce of Provo, UT, and Doug Peirce.

She was preceded in death by her husband and 2 sons, LaRue B. Nelson, Jr. and Jon Scott Nelson.
