Luella May Johnson Parker Obituary (1926 - 2016)

Luella May Johnson Parker Luella May Johnson Parker of Hooper passed away September 19, 2016, peacefully after a long joyful life. Luella was born July 21, 1926, in Harrisville, Utah, the daughter of James Alvin Johnson and Minnie Mae Cranor. Luella lived in Rawlins and Lyman, Wyoming as well as Ogden, Riverdale, and Hooper, Utah. Luella is preceded in death by her father that died when Luella was only three-years-old, and her mother who raised her children in the depression as a widow. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Wyatt Mann and Minnie Bell Cranor, and her Aunt Ada Cranor Burton who had a great influence in her life. Proceeding her in death was also her loving husband of 54 years, Henry Lisle Parker, their beloved son Evan Parel, grandson, Skyler Evan, and granddaughter, Camilla Shan Grow as well as Luella's brother, Glen Johnson, brother-in-law, Robert Roland Parker, and sister-in-law, Robena Falslev. Luella is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Bruce) Carr and a sister-in-law, Maxine Parker. Luella worked faithfully by Lisle's side raising their children of whom she is survived by: Beverly Bailey of Centerville; Curtis (Mayla) of Logan; Alan (JoAnn) of Clinton; Shanna (Steven) Grow of Fort Ashby, WV; Dale (Misti) of West Point; daughter-in-law, Tammy (Chris) Bell of Kaysville; and Ada (Greg) Beuchert of West Point. Luella is also survived by her greatest pride and joy; her precious 34 grandchildren which she adored and her 88 great-grandchildren all of which she has honored and served through many years of compassionate service. Luella graduated from Weber High School, earned an Associate Degree from Weber College where she met Lisle. He served his country in the Navy and when he returned; he and Luella were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 28, 1946. She taught school at Hooper Elementary as well as encouraged Lisle while he taught for 30 years. During this time, their family established a large and productive dairy farm, where she always worked alongside Lisle and their children. After raising their seven children Luella worked at IRS for 10 years. Luella was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Luella was a great teacher, as she served on both Stake Relief Society and Primary boards. She was a dedicated visiting teacher for over 50 years. Lisle and Luella served as guides at the Ogden visitor center and then as ordinance workers at the Ogden Temple for over seventeen years. She participated in the church's Lamanite Program and had Navajo Foster Students in her home for five years. She will forever be cherished for her wise and funny sayings like, "pretty is as pretty does", and for the hundreds of crib sheets she sewed, her spunky nature and uncanny ability to call or show up just when she was needed. Luella recently celebrated her 90th birthday by her family honoring her for her example of service, faithfulness and kindness. She leaves a legacy of love and care as she touched the hearts of those she leaves behind. Luella's last wish for her children and grandchildren is that they know that she has a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Hooper 1st Ward, 5601 South 6100 West, Hooper, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services.
