Marguerite P. Smith Obituary (1916 - 2003)

MARGUERITE P. SMITH LOGAN/CLINTON - Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lydia Marguerite Pearce Smith passed from this life at home, Saturday, May 10, 2003 after having fulfilled her mission here on this earth. Marguerite was born April 9, 1916 in Hyrum, Utah to Joseph Amos and Harriet Elinor (Nell) Hall Pearce. She was reared in Hyrum and graduated from South Cache High School. She married Donald Thorpe Smith on October 5, 1938 in the Logan LDS Temple. She had been a hairdresser, and worked at Low Cost Drug Store in Logan. She was an excellent homemaker. She became interested in golf and enjoyed golfing with her husband and played in the Smithfield Ladies Association. She had been an active member of the Logan 3rd Ward where she served in Primary, Sunday School and in the Relief Society, also as a Temple Worker in the Logan Temple. Surviving are her husband, Don, one son and two daughters, Larry Don Smith (Karyl) of Farmington, Carolyn Brunson (Barry) of Ogden, and Jolene Stillson (Frank) of Worland, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her two sisters; Helen P. Knowles and LaVern Malan; as well as one son, Douglas Pearce Smith, and one grandson, Mark Alan Smith. Marguerite and Don have seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family expresses thanks to their friends and staff at Country Pines Retirement Center as well as Vista Care Hospice.
