Mabel Shaw
ROY - Our sweet mother, Mabel Shaw returned to Heaven September 1, 2014 at 93 years old, and was met by her father and mother, Fay Elsworth Goodrick and Clara Swenson. Her brothers and sisters, Jim, Aril, Vern, Devon, and Veda also greeted her, as well as grandchildren Darin, Sherrie, and Jaydn. Her sisters Elvina and Calpernia will meet her later.
Mabel June Goodrick, "but nobody..better not never... .call me Mabel JUNE"! was born July 21, 1921 in a log cabin on the banks of the Snake River in Wilson, Wyoming.
She attended school in Wilson and soon taught the bully's who was in charge. They learned the hard way that "you don't never mess with Mabel." She learned at a very young age about hard work, working on the ranch to keep food on the table. She milked the cows and followed the plow, digging up worms for fishing.
She met and married Victor Henrie in Jackson Hole and they were blessed with Garey (Judy) Henrie, and Roberta (Vern) Rasmussen. He passed away soon after. She moved to Utah where she met and married Othella Munn. Twins were born to this marriage, Caryol (Kevin) Patterson and Sharyol (Dennis) Mansfield. They were later divorced. She then married Harold Shaw in the Ogden Temple. He later passed away.
She was so proud of her garden and worked so hard to keep it beautiful. She loved her dirt!
She was a member of the Roy Second Ward where she served valiantly in her Relief Society callings. We are who we are because of her example of love, kindness, commitment and hard work. 21 children call her Granny, she is Great Granny to 51 children with 10 great-great-grandchildren.
We will celebrate her incredible life on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Roy Second Ward Chapel, 5127 South 2400 West, Roy. The family will greet friends at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
Our thanks and appreciation to the kind and loving people at Peach Tree Assisted Living Center and Hospice for Utah for their caring and compassion.
She is such a joy to us and we will miss her so much... ..until we meet her again.
Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
