Mae "Johnson" Lamont
OGDEN - Mae Lamont passed through the veil in her home in Ogden on September 12, 2002.
Mae was born November 18, 1921 in Lake Shore, Utah to Benjamin and Susan Simmons. She was the 7th child of this union, followed by two brothers. She lived with her family in Lake Shore until August 12, 1940 when she married Rex Johnson from Santaquin, Utah. For the first few years of their marriage they lived where Rex could locate construction work until 1950 when they moved to Clover, Utah. After Rex suffered a crippling accident in 1961 they moved to Wendell, Idaho where they worked very hard on a small dairy farm. She loved those 30 years of working along side Rex. After losing Rex in 1986, Mae moved to Ogden to be closer to her son and extended family. LeRoy "Jack" Lamont charmed her fancy and they were married in June 2000.
Five children were born to Rex and Mae: Cindy Martha Johnson, deceased; Rex Lamar Johnson, Plain City, Utah; Gerald Lee Johnson, Hillsboro, Oregon; John Leray Johnson, Casper, Wyoming; and Connie Mae VanGorder of Dryden, New York.
Mae had and used her many talents to help family, friends and persons in need. One of these many talents was crocheting. She always liked crocheting something she could use or give away.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, six brothers and sisters, one daughter, and two grandchildren. Her survivors are her second husband, four children, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
