Zeke Maphis Carroll Worthington Obituary (1925 - 2006)

BRIGHAM CITY- Maphis "Zeke" Carroll Worthington, 81, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Zeek was born on January 26, 1925 in Raceland, Kentucky a son of Dennis Dean and Edna Myrtle Williams Worthington. He received his High School Diploma in 2003 because in 1944 he was drafted into the Navy. He left his home state of Kentucky to come to Utah and serve in the CCC's. He was then drafted into the Navy and served during WW II as Second Class Sonar man on the USS Patterson. He took his flight training from Johnny Weir at Seagull Aviation in Brigham City and received his pilot license. Zeke was an active member of the LDS Church. He served in the VFW Post 1695 and served as Post Commander from 1990 to 1994. He was employed at Big J Mill for 40 years retired as mill superintendent. Zeke enjoyed flying, playing guitar, attending his yearly ship reunions and especially his family and friends. Surviving are his wife Alberta of Brigham City, a daughter, Carol Ann Facer of Brigham City, a son Bryan & Brooke Worthington of Kaysville, six grandchildren; Kyle, Shelby, Braxton, Kaleb, Aspen & Logan and a sister Lois Bradley of Worthington, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by a son Dennis Dean Worthington (Stub), and two sisters, Juanita Worthington and Ruth Stoll. The family would like to thank Royella Smith with Legacy Hospice, close friends, Ann Burbank, Greg, Suzanne and Matt Myers and Roy and Mary Cooper. Funeral services will be Monday, October 30, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City. Friends may call Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Monday from 12:00 Noon to 12:45 p.m. at the Mortuary Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded by VFW Post #1695.
