Marcella May Carter

OGDEN - Marcella May Cantwell Larsen Sholly Carter died Monday, February 19, 2001 after a short illness. She was born in Smithfield, Utah to Milo and Ella Reese Cantwell. She married Omer Paul Larsen in the Logan Temple, he died June 30, 1974. She married William P. Sholly June 7, 1979, they divorced in 1983. She married Harold Carter December 27, 1986, he died May 3, 1993.

Marcella lived and worked in Ogden for the majority of her life. She apprenticed as a beautician when she was 16, opened her own beauty shop in her home in 1936 and worked until the end of 1999. She was a member of the Lorin Farr 6th Ward. When her children were young she taught Primary class for ten years. She was a member of the National and Utah Cosmetologists Associations and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Since 1975 she was active in golf and bowling and was a member of the Riverside Ladies Golf Association and the Ogden Women's Bowling Association. She was also a member of the Eagles 2472 Auxiliary, the Lady of the Elks and the Does Ogden Drove #27.

She is survived by her sister Ruth Peterson of Magna, Utah; her children, Jay Paul Larsen and his wife Jan of San Mateo, CA; Carolyn L. Mann and her husband Manning of Ogden, UT; five grandchildren, Vicki Gordon, Lisa Davis, Paul M. Larsen, Janine Jennings, and Gwen Pena; six great-grandsons; one stepdaughter Cindy Martin (Dan) of Woods Cross, Utah; and three step-grandsons, Travis, Quincy and Blake.
