Our beloved mother, devoted grandmother, aunt and dear friend to all, Margaret Bachman Handy, passed away peacefully Sunday morning November 24, 2013 at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living due to incident of age. She was born on February 7, 1921 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Rexel Bachman and Elizabeth Stanford Goddard Bachman. She grew up in Ogden, Utah and Denver, Colorado. Margaret graduated from Ogden High School in 1939 and Weber State in 1941. She married David B. Handy on August 8, 1941 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Margaret loved being a homemaker and providing for her family everything they needed and wanted. Her 3 sons are especially grateful she was their mother. She always made sure they had clean clothes, warm meals and lots of cookies. She was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints holding many callings in the Relief Society; she also did stake genealogy research and served at the Daughters of Utah Pioneer Museum.

Margaret had the opportunity to live in many places because of Dad's career. She always enjoyed where she lived and had the great ability of making friends anywhere she went. She and Dad lived in Ogden, Utah; Twin Falls, Idaho; Pendleton, Oregon; Seattle, Washington, again in Ogden, Utah, again in Seattle, Washington and Minneapolis, Minnesota and when Dad retired in 1983 they moved back to Ogden to be around family and grandchildren.

Margaret was excellent at knitting and needlepoint. She has knitted over100 Christmas stockings for family and friends, countless sweaters, afghans, slippers and dish cloths. She enjoyed reading books, cooking, attending church activities, University of Washington football games, supporting her sons in their sporting events and traveling.

In the community she volunteered at the voting polls, was a member of DUP, Chareya Club and a Pink Lady at the old Dee Hospital.

Margaret was always happy and fun to be around. She had the best laugh in the world and when she laughed everyone laughed with her.

Her advice is to always express your love and appreciation to your family and friends. She never spoke unkindly about anyone and had a true gentle Christian spirit about her.

Margaret is survived by her 3 sons, David (Joanne) Handy of San Francisco, California; Scott (Patricia) Handy of Ogden, Utah; Michael (Marcie) Handy of Kaysville, Utah. She has 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers; 1 grandchild; 1 great grandchild and her loving husband of 48 years. The family would like to express their thankfulness to the staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living for their kindness and wonderful care they have given Margaret for over 7 A 1/2 years and the wonderful caregivers from Hearts for Hospice who showed unconditional love to Margaret. Also, thank you to the Skyline Branch at Mountain Ridge and her Malan's Peak Ward of the LDS church.
