Marguerite J. Hunt

Marguerite Johanson Hunt, 98, passed away July 17, 2003 in Hollister California where she resided with her daughter Reva for the past five years.

She was born June 16, 1905 in Rexburg, Idaho to Joseph Andrew and Anna Wilhelmina Blunk Johanson. She married James Guy Hunt on November 23, 1927 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Marguerite remembered a happy life in Rexburg growing up on her parent's dry farm and working hard in the family store and post office and cooking for the hired hands.

She graduated from Ricks Academy as Valedictorian of her class. She also earned a three-year diploma from the Women's Institute in Domestic Arts and Sciences.

After marrying Guy and moving to Ogden, she worked at the Defense Depot, the North Ogden Canning Company and as a Nurse's Aid at the Dee Hospital.

Marguerite enjoyed taking trips with her husband and family and traveled extensively throughout the United States. She was very active in the LDS Church teaching Primary and Sunday School, attending the temple, doing family history and serving as a visiting teacher for many years. She loved to walk and work in her beautiful gardens and did much sewing and handicrafts. Most of all she loved being with her husband and her family, cooking for them and entertaining them.

She is survived by four of her five children: Reva (Ben) Pedersen, Hollister, CA., Reed M. Hunt, Virgil (Pearl) Hunt, Sharon (Gene) Warner, all of Ogden; 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her special poodle, Honey. In addition is one surviving sister, Blanche Madsen of Rexburg, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Guy Hunt; son, Verle Hunt; daughter-in-law, Irene Hunt; grandson, Bob Quinn and six siblings.
